Did you know that 2026 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of the Woman Farmer?! I didn’t, but was thrilled about the declaration😃. The growing influence of female farmers can’t be denied as approximately 36% of current farm operators in the States are female. Women in agriculture face many challenges in this male-dominated field, but we’re uniquely equipped to continuously develop and sustain creative solutions for overcoming barriers. We have a deeply instinctual connection to the earth and all her living things which demands we approach this land-based work with the respect and reverence it deserves. We will leave our mark on agriculture this year and for many years to come.
I’m ever-inspired by these six female farmers in the South:

No doubt, the future of farming is female.
