Meet Your Farmer

Farmer Latisha is a creative committed to decolonizing the food system and building communities of resistance. Like many of the activists before her, she sees a need for economic self-sufficiency as a means of resistance. Food cultivation and land stewardship address fears of food insecurity and allow for more independence and self-reliance.

She uses only organic practices to grow the best heirloom and heritage varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Everything offered by Uhuru Farms is produced naturally and ethically – without the use of harmful chemicals or practices. As a bee lover, she’s passionate about creating sanctuary for the sacred pollinators whose vitality supports human sustenance.

Uhuru Farms is more than Latisha’s latest project. It is an act of resistance. It is a (re)connection to her lineage. It is a dare to challenge how we farm these lands, how we live on this Earth, and how we treat each other.

She is planting seeds of hope and watering the roots for change to nourish many. May her soil-kissed hands honor the legacy and agricultural ingenuity of the ancestors. Ashe.
