NATURE’S RESILIENCE

Last year, I sourced Zingiber zerumbet (aka shampoo, pinecone, or bitter ginger) rhizomes from Puerto Rico to set out on my journey of growing my own natural shampoo.

With the unexpected snowfall last Winter, I was sure that my new rhizomes were a lost cause. Even still, I left them in their soil pots through this Summer. I was recently SHOCKED to find that those shampoo ginger rhizomes, I’d assumed dead, had sprouted🤯.

Wow. Yet another example of nature’s incredible resilience. It’s a lifelong goal to channel my awe and admiration of this resilience into my own existence – to be more like nature. I aim to learn to apply its lessons of collective action, adaptive strategies, ecosystem-based solutions, and focus on long-term sustainability to create my very best life.
