FIG-ALICIOUS😋

This time last year, I was admiring the little trees in my newly planted out agroforest rows in a space I dreamt would one day be a lush, food forest. That day has come!

New, unripe figs on a tree

This season, I’m finding fresh figs popping all throughout my abundant food forest.

Harvested, ripe fig

This small, round fruit starts off bright green and firm to touch, but eventually becomes a shade of purple, brown, or yellow (depending on the fig variety) and VERY soft. The change in color and texture is how I know when the fruit is ready for harvest.

Biting into a fresh fig

My first bite into a fresh, ripe fig from a tree was reminiscent of eating a sweet, tender candy. Wow🤤. Nature never ceases to amaze me. Eating fresh fruit straight from a tree is a luxury I never ever want to live without again in my lifetime.
