Rather than dread and complain about how hot the Summer is, I continually challenge myself to find the opportunities presented by the season. Outdoor temps prevent me from spending much time outside, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be farm productive. Once I finish extra early morning outside tasks, I spend at least an hour working indoors harvesting seeds and processing fresh abundance. These are necessary tasks that I don’t usually find time to do during seasons that keep me busy working outside. Summer is the PERFECT time for building up my seed bank and food preserves. I’ve still got quite a bit of indoor work to do, but I’m pleased with how much I’ve been able to accomplish this season.
