GARDEN PEAS

In an effort to continually maximize my growing space, I experimented with using the approximate 12 inches of “empty” space between a raised bed and wooden fence.

In preparation for my experiment, I installed a trellis netting to the fence. In mid-March, I sowed Wando Garden Peas into twelve 1 gallon pots and lined them up along the fence.

The extreme weather fluctuations of early-Summer had the plants struggling for a bit, but they eventually started flowering and setting pods. I won’t get enough peas from this experiment for preserving, but I’ll enjoy fresh eating for a few more weeks until the heat takes them out. At which time, I’ll squeeze two 5 gallon buckets of tomato plants in this space to, hopefully🤞🏾, cover the trellis with delicious fruit until our first frost. I’m encouraged to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible!
