One of the improvements I committed to making this year was providing water sources for the birds and bees on the farm.
Bees need access to water for cooling, hydration, feeding their babies, and honey production. They prefer a stagnant, shallow water source with something for them to land on to prevent drowning. I sourced old pickle jars and small rocks, bought replacement jar lids, and acquired secondhand dish plates to create watering stations for the bees (and other small pollinators).

Birds are drawn to moving water for drinking and bathing. To create a bird watering station, I purchased a solar-powered, submersible water pump and re-purposed my grandma’s old flower pot.

I have a feeling the birds and bees are going to be really appreciative of these farm improvements this Summer😇.
