Did you know that, on average, 41.2 million people in 21.6 million households received monthly Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (aka SNAP) benefits in the 2022 fiscal year? That translates to 12.5% of the total U.S. population receiving federal financial support to buy groceries for their household. It should come as no surprise that SNAP use surged during and after the global pandemic. If economists’ predictions of the near future come even close to accurate, we can expect this distressing trend to continue.

As entrepreneurs fighting for improved food access, we’re proud to share that we’ve applied to be a SNAP retailer. If our application is approved, SNAP recipients will be able to purchase fresh produce, seeds, and plant starts directly from us using their EBT card! This would be a game changer for our community, so we will remain steadfast and thorough in this federal process. So far, the process hasn’t been too terribly painful, but we’re not done yet. We’ve been asked to provide supporting documentation which I’m working to compile and submit as soon as possible.
