WOW, WORMWOOD!

Last year, I’d started wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) from seed in hopes of being able to add this beneficial herb to my medicinal tea blends. Wormwood is traditionally used to fight against a variety of intestinal parasites like pinworm, roundworm, and tapeworm. Today, modern herbalists utilize the bitter compounds of wormwood to improve digestion, symptoms of hypoacidity (i.e. bloating, heartburn, gas, constipation, and diarrhea), lack of appetite, and overall blood flow in the digestive system.

Being a perennial started from seed, I expected it to grow sloooow, but boy was I wrong. My wormwood plants have been growing and spreading like crazy!

I’ve been dividing the plants to give them more room to grow and harvesting regularly to stimulate healthy re-growth.

Bundle of fresh wormwood

The fresh bundles are hang drying for my tea blends and the baby wormwood plants will be pampered in the nursery all Summer to grow into strong tranplants for the coming seasons.
